The Man rules: Part 1…

23 Jul

Yes, there are some  fundamental differences between men and women… which is not neccessarily a bad thing… just different… See if you recognize any of these…

  1. Shopping is NOT a sport, and no, we are never going to think of it that way.

  2. YES and NO are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

  3. When we have to go somewhere, anything you want to wear is fine. Really.

  4. Crying is blackmail.

  5. Ask for what you want. Subtle hints do not work. Strong hints do not work. Obvious hints do not work – Just say it…!

  6. We don’t remember dates. Mark birthdays and anniversaries on a calendar.
    Remind us frequently beforehand.

Ha, ha, ha… well, I can sure relate to some of these…
Big time… ; )

The ‘perfect’ partner…

05 Jun

How do you know when it’s real…. I mean, the real thing… true love… the kind that’s meant to last forever…? The quest to find the ‘perfect’ partner… is it a never-ending story… or reality waiting to happen…?

How do you know…? What’s it supposed to feel like…?
I think most of us know how it feels to be in love… but to truly love someone… so much that you want to spend the rest of your life together with that person… well, that’s different… Yes, a few times it has felt like it was the ‘real deal’… but then it didn’t turn out that way…

So what makes it last then…? When I ask the people in my in surroundings, that have stayed together for many years – they usually say that you have to work on the relationship… that it might not always start out being 100% but if you work at it long enough… and hard enough, you will eventually reach that point…

But does it have to be hard…? I mean, of course you want to put some effort into making the relationship work… but what if the person you meet is ‘right’ for you… matches you in every way… does it really have to be so hard then…?

I believe that in this world of ours, there are several ‘perfect’ partners walking around somewhere… we just need to find them… or at least one of them… ; )
Maybe I’m a hopeless romantic but I really do believe in ‘love at first sight’ and all that stuff… I believe in keeping the passion alive while still developing the relationship… but more based on a ‘mutual understanding’… that the success of a relationship is built on respect, honesty and the concept of ‘give and take’… that it’s a question of learning and knowing when to step back and when to take charge… that you need to choose your battles… and cannot ‘win’ every time… sometimes you need to see the ‘big picture’ or the reasons behind your partner’s behaviour… and just let things ‘slide’… not waste energy on things that don’t take the relationship forward…

Sure, I expect the road might be a bit rocky sometimes… but rather that than having the relationship finds itself on the brink of disaster every time there’s a conflict… or even WORSE… when there’s no turbulence or conflict at all… no disagreements… no passion… just silent acceptance and a ‘make do’ mindset… Hmmm, not very inspiring…

Hmmm, I guess one should not ponder too much…
It’s probably easier to rest assured that ‘you’ll know when it hits you’… ‘All good things come to those who wait’… I seem to recall someone saying…

I sure hope he’s knew what he was talking about… ; )

The many people…

23 Feb

One of the most under-rated forces of energy that exists… is the collective force of the people…
The many people…

When the many people join together in a shared vision or belief, and work towards a common goal…
the generated power reaches unimaginable heights…
and mountains can actually be moved (figuratively)… The recent developments in Egypt are  proof of this… where a united people stand up against oppression…
and for justice… and emerge successful and victorious…

It needn’t be for political purposes… it can be for any reason strong enough to unite people… Sometimes for what is clearly a good cause… and sometimes for causes that might be a bit harder to understand…
but nevertheless, the power and energy is there…

What if people could join forces against things of some of the ‘smaller’ things in life as well… like the things that are really annoying… for instance the unbelievably high amount of radio and TV commercials that we are constantly bombarded with… even though most of us don’t want this…
Or some of the really crappy TV shows and films that a few people decide that the rest of us should be exposed to…
Or how some political representatives abuse their positions of power… So many things that could change in an instant, if only people would join forced more often… putting down the foot and saying… ‘”no more… enough is enough…”

So why then, don’t we do this… well, because these seemingly small things tend to exist in our ‘OK-zone’…
the very large area in our minds where so many things linger that we really don’t like… but we don’t dislike them enough to actually do something about it… as we think it will take too much energy… so we continue to accept them as being ‘OK’…

It’s truly amazing how we as ‘the people’ choose to accept as much as we do… corruption… exploitation… injustice… dictatorship… war… cruelty… cheating… etc… What if we could all unite… and together work to create some new and common reference points… where acceptance for different opinions and variations, is a prerequisite… If we could only unite… things would be some much better…
Yes, I know… it might seem a bit unrealistic… but one thing’s for sure… each individual can definitely try their hardest to make a difference … in the ways we can…
in the ways that lie within our power… The worst thing we can do, is to do nothing… and just accept things the way they are… because they are…

Working together starts within ourselves… building on the energy, determination and commitment of each individual… So let us work together in creating new possibilities… and opportunities… that can enrich our lives in so many ways… and bring us even closer to each other… ; )

Fate – is there such a thing…?

27 Jan

”On October 6, the planet blacked out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds… The whole world saw the future…”
Wow, what a fascinating notion… people being flashed forward six months into the future… and seing visions of what their future would look like… each vision different from the other… some coinciding… some crossing and touching at certain points in the events that take place…

Well, so starts the TV show ‘Flashforward’… and how hard it is not to get completely drawn into this very exciting plot… It surely gets the mind going… many thoughts about life… the future… the past and the present… destiny… etc…

Most of all, the concept raises some interesting questions…
What if your flashforward vision showed you being together with a different person than your current partner…? Or in a dangerous situation… being killed… or maybe just living a very different life… in a different city and with a different job…?
What would you do with that information…? Would you accept it as fate and ‘go with the flow’…? Or would you try to change the future…?
Can we change fate…? Is there even such a thing as fate…? Well, many are the views on this… and of course it’s up to each individual to decide if it’s relevant in their lives or not…

Is there even such a thing as fate…? Well, many are the views on this… and of course it’s up to each individual to decide if it’s relevant in their lives to believe this or not… Personally, I believe in fate… but as a variable concept… fate in alternate versions that play out differently depending on the choices that we make… For instance, you could be ‘destined’ to become an artist but you really don’t know exactly what expressive form it will take… painter, musician, designer… or dancer… Depending on the decisions we make, it could end up being one or the other… but still an artist in some form… A sort of pre-determined fate you could say… with altenative possible versions of the same result…

It’s very easy not to believe in fate… especially when bad things happen… we lose hope… trust… and sometimes our entire belief system gets be shaken to the core… and this takes time to rebuild… Believing in fate it just a way to make life a bit easier… whether good or bad things happen… It sure has helped me through times where it would have been so easy to lose faith… and chose ‘the hard way’, speding loads of energy on things that I couldn’t change, no matter how hard I tried…

No, it’s much easier to accept it as fate and see what the learning is… How I can learn and grow as an individual…? For a long time, one of my key ‘mantras’ has been: ”You win some, and you lose some…” and in the end it will all even up… Both good and bad things happen for a reason… they are meant as learnings and rewards… and as far as the bad things, you will get the lessons you need to learn… over and over again, until you have learnt them… For how long…? Well, that’s up to you… The main thing is to take it as it comes, and don’t dwell on it too much… Why ponder about what the future will bring… when you can create your own… with fine-tuning and all…

Remember the past… think about the future… but live in the now… ; )
